Z4 Service Call

Took the Z4 in to Brecht BMW for a few complaints. The good news was, they got me in and out in about an hour. The bad news was, they didn’t actually fix anything.
- The navigation LCD needs replacing. They had to order the part. I’ll have to come back for a multi-hour session to get it installed.
- The roof rubs when going down, causing a clunk. The mechanic misunderstood the complaint and didn’t find anything wrong. When I demonstrated the problem, he proposed to fix it on the next visit. In the meantime he wants to examine other Z4 tops, since he doesn’t know how to fix it.
- The rattle, he didn’t hear on a road test. Again he proposes to try again next time, on a road test with me in the car. Why we didn’t do that today, I’m not sure.
- I had pre-ordered the parts for installation of the aux audio input kit. They hadn’t ordered it. At first, they claimed it didn’t exist. Then they said it did exist but they don’t have any in stock, but they would order one for me.
At least they washed the car for me.
