How long was the walk (time and/or distance)?

About an hour and a half.

The mapping program makes it 5 miles, but I think there must be a bunch of round-up errors in that. What with stopping for photos, I wasn't going that fast.

What percent [of the carts] were in or very near the parking lot to which they belong?

About half. Roughly, the second half, since the first part of the walk was residential and the second part was through strip center hell. The remaining part of the walk, in the dark through a slightly nicer residential area, didn't score any carts.

Only three were actually in the lot where they belong. Not that there weren't plenty of carts in the right lots; it just didn't seem proper to photograph the ones that weren't out of place.
