When the 1993 Mazda RX-7 was diagnosed as needing another new engine after only 15,000 miles, I decided to get rid of it and get a different sports car. A convertible this time. After lots of shopping and test-driving, I settled on a BMW Z4. I couldn't find a Z4 on the lot with exactly the set of features I wanted, so I had to order one from the factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina (yes, the BMW Z4 is an American-built car). Just for fun, I decided to pick up the Z4 at the factory instead of taking delivery at my local dealer. This is the travelogue of that trip.
In addition the photos shown here as part of the story, there are a number of collections of would-be Art images. These are referenced in chronological order with the nearest image in this narrative.
